What happens during the first session?
Usually this time is an opportunity to meet and for you to see if you would feel comfortable working with me. A little bit of information about what you are bringing will help me to access that my skills are appropriate in supporting you.
Further sessions
Sessions that follow usually take place on a weekly basis, lasting 50 minutes. The regularity and number of sessions you wish to attend are for you to decide. This varies with people, weekly, monthly or longer. During this time we review how you feel things are progressing. If I was unable to continue working with you we would then discuss what other support maybe more appropriate at that time.
Confidentiality
I adhere to a strict privacy and confidentiality policy set out by BACP (British Association Counselling and Psychotherapy) legal and ethical codes of practise. As a counsellor what you say to me I keep completely confidential. Situations are rare in which I would need to share information, these are where you present a serious risk to yourself or others. I would hope to discuss this with you, as these are unusual circumstances.
Supervision
As a member of BACP I am bound to work within their Ethical Framework for Good Practice. This requires that I receive regular supervision, which assess my work while maintaining professional levels of good counselling practice.
Fees
I charge a fee of £15.00 for the first session. Further sessions are charged at £35.00 per 50 minutes.
